Comprehensive Financial Planning

The best way to get to where you want to go, is to know the destination and chart a course. Financial goals are no different. We start with understanding your current financial state, establishing goals and looking across all elements of your financial picture including investments, insurance, tax planning and estate needs. 

 

Initial engagements require more upfront time and then we’ll aim to check in twice a year. As an on-going client, you are always free to reach out when questions arise or circumstances change.

 

We follow the standardized process outlined by the Certified Financial Planning Board. Please see an overview of the Financial Planning Process below.

Investment Management

With clear investment objectives, we diversify your accounts and minimize your investment costs. As part of the financial planning process we:

 

  • Evaluate your current portfolio’s allocation across asset class and industry sector

  • Define your time horizon, investment risk tolerance, and other core inputs

  • Implement your investment strategy with the suitable account options and an understanding of what’s needed to pursue your goals

Financial Planning Process

Identify your needs & objectives.

We typically discuss this in our introductory call.

Gather information & clarify goals.

We dive deeper on your financial goals and collect the information needed to assess your current financial situation. This takes place during a second longer meeting lasting between 60-90 minutes.

Analyze information.

 I will analyze your personal situation with your values and priorities in mind.

Develop a written plan of action.

I will develop realistic financial solutions and run simulations to understand probabilities for success.

Presentation of your plan.

 We meet to review a comprehensive financial plan and recommendations for next steps.

Implement your plan.

We align on responsibilities for next steps and identify realistic timelines for implementation.

Review your progress.

We check-in and adjust our plan as circumstances change.

Investment Philosophy

Goals drive investment strategy

We identify the suitable mix of investments to pursue your goals based on your time horizon, risk tolerance, and returns needed to get there.

Diversification aims to reduce risk and volatility

Diversification ensures that your assets are spread strategically across various investment types, geographies and time horizons. The goal is to minimize volatility across your portfolio.

Markets work efficiently

I believe that markets generally reflect accurate prices and that no one can consistently time the market over the long term.

Pricing

As a fee-only independent advisor, my recommendations are driven by your financial goals. I don’t take commissions nor am I incentivized to sell specific products. The annual retainer fee model allows us to continually adjust your strategy as goals and market conditions change over time.

 

For individuals or families with less than $3,000,000 in combined assets under management, our annual flat retainer fee is $6,750.  This includes comprehensive, on-going financial planning and investment management informed by that plan. 

 

For individuals or families in excess of $3,000,000 in combined assets under management, our flat retainer fee is based on complexity and needs of the client.

 

I am also committed to dedicating a portion of my time to clients who may have difficulty paying the full annual retainer. Fees are discounted based on individual client situations and will never exceed 1% of assets under management. One time planning fees may also be discussed.
